The Movement for Justice and Reconciliation will:
- Respond without delay to any allegation or cause for concern that a child or vulnerable adult may have been harmed in connection with any activities the carried out by the charity
- Challenge the abuse of power of anyone in a position of trust within the charity.
- Ensure the implementation of government legislation and guidance and safe practice.

The Movement for Justice and Reconciliation Safeguarding Policy
- A satisfactory CRB/DBS disclosure will be carried out before the appointment of any staff or volunteer who might come into contact with children or vulnerable adults in the course of their duties.
- Each worker will be expected to undergo basic safeguarding training within the first year of appointment. The other training needs of each worker will be considered (e.g. food hygiene, first aid, lifting and handling, etc.) and each worker will have an annual review conducted by a trustee.
- Those who act on behalf of the charity should not meet or work alone with a child or vulnerable adult where the activity cannot be seen, unless this is necessary for pastoral reasons, in which case a written note of this will be made and kept noting date, time and place of visit.
- Any premises used by the charity will be assessed for safety for children and vulnerable adults and the risk assessment report will be presented to the trustees in written form prior to the event. This will include fire safety procedures. The Trustees will consider the extent to which the venue and equipment are suitable or should be made more suitable.
- Any charity-organised transport of children or vulnerable adults will be checked to ensure the vehicle is suitable and insured and that the driver and escort are appropriate.
- Should anyone have any cause or suspicion regarding the welfare of a child or vulnerable adult, initial conversation should be held with a trustee or member of staff, who will then refer the matter to the designated safeguarding officer.
